Ball Moss
Sorry! I am still trying to put this page together while running the business and doing all the work at the same time.
Ball moss is Tillandsia Recurvata. It is an epiphyte not a parasite. I have known it to debilitate cedar elms so badly that the trees die. I have never seen it cause the death of an oak, which is not to say that it never has or cannot. It grows on anything that offers its seed a place the germinate off of the ground. You can see it growing on a power line that crosses Loop One, otherwise known as MoPac, here in Austin, Texas right were Rollingwood Drive crosses. I have been monitoring that wire for about 15 years and the plants seem to be doing very well.
